What is it with these "Tag Applied For" signs?  I've lived in three states, and in none of them do you apply for a tag.  You go to the DMV, courthouse, or Probate Office and buy the damn tag (or renew it and get a new expiration sticker for the next year).  Even if you want a personalized tag, you don't apply for it.  You just pay for it and they hand you a temporary one with the vanity slogan written in marker, that expires in 60 days.  It pisses me off to see these things on cars for months (some I've seen for years this way), yet when I let my tag lapse for a few days, I'm on the side of the road explaining why I haven't gotten my renewal sticker yet.
