10/11/2011 - 20 months of laziness, and finally an update! So you order a sandwich combo at Panera Bread and they ask for your choice of side (no surprise, there). They ask if you want chips, an apple, or a piece of baguette. Since your sandwich is made with bread, it seems odd to me that they'd ask you if you want a piece of bread with your sandwich. Why would I want bread with my bread? Speaking of sandwiches, when looking at the menu, I noticed their Roasted Turkey Artichoke panini. Honestly, this thing is pretty tasty, and I order it when I'm at Panera. What got my attention was the nutrition facts. The sandwich is 780 calories, but of that, 510 comes from the bread. 65.3% of the calories come from two slices of bread? Seriously? Take a gander at this: Come to think of it, that's a lot of sodium, too. In fact, this one sandwich has over half of the Recommended Daily Value of 2,300 mg. |
